Systems Engineer & Architect, SUM/IT Systems, Atlanta, Ga  2004 – July 2013

SUM/IT Systems focuses on providing a full systems solution to small and medium-sized retailers across the country, including bare-metal, virtual and cloud-based solutions. Primary responsibility is to suggest, research, test and ultimately help deploy solutions to our customers; then help support those customers in their hardware and software needs for the long-term.  Work closely with the Founding President & CTO to help steer the direction and growth of the company.

  • Perform Virtual Machine creation, configuration and administration, proof-of-concept modelling.

Work closely with programmers, hardware vendors and outside contractors as well as upper management and all employees to ensure that the technology of the company runs reliably while providing what the company needs to grow and be profitable.

By 2003 the technology had easily taken over this position and required about 80% of my time.  At the same time my staff grew from about a 10 to well over 30 team members.
